Dr Madala Kunene Honorary Concert will feature Dr Madala Kunene and Xolisa Dlamini.

Dr Madala Kunene has been recently conferred as honorary doctoral degree (Doctor of Music) from UKZN’s College of Humanities. The concert is to honor Dr Madala Kunene affectionately known as “Bafo”.

Dr Madala Kunene is a South African musician born in Kwa-Mashu, near Durban. Kunene started busking on Durban’s beachfront at the age of 7, making his first guitar out of a cooking oil tin and fish gut for the strings, soon becoming a popular performer in the townships.

This concert will be directed by Edmund Mhlongo and MC’ed by Thando Nyameni.
