Mention the name of the great Russian composer, Pyotr lIyich Tchaikovsky, to any music aficionado and they will go into raptures.
The year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of the composer whose music has generated great interest amongst all generations and continues to mesmerise to this day. His three ballets Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker are true pearls of the world`s ballet treasures.
As a special treat for South African audiences, Artistic Director Anatoly Emelianov has prepared a special programme devoted to Tchaikovsky, which features dancers from the CROWN OF THE RUSSIAN BALLET.
Founded in 1997, the company consists of graduates of the best Russian choreography schools. It has toured successfully around the globe, including Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, France, Austria, Sweden, the USA, Great Britian, Canada, Germany, Finland, India, Switzerland, Austria. China, Israel, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
