Award winning choreographer Christopher Kindo presents two fabulous new pieces performed by The Playhouse Dance Residency, while the Flatfoot Dance Company teams up with celebrated pianist, Shannon Hope, in their production simply entitled Hope. This dance double bill is not to be missed!

This will be two separate dance pieces coming from two creative dance groups choreographed by well known South African dance choreographers.

The Playhouse presents Hope in association with The Flatfoot Dance Company, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary. The award-winning Lliane Loots, founder, artistic director and resident choreographer for The Flatfoot Dance Company, choreographs this high-energy and compelling piece. Hope features the six resident dancers of this Durban-based Dance Company, and sees them collaborate live on stage with nationally acclaimed Durban musician, Shannon Hope, on piano and vocals.

The Playhouse presents Imvula, choreographed by award-winning dance luminary, Christopher Kindo, and performed by dancers from the Playhouse Dance Residency. The Playhouse established its Dance Residency programme in response to the scarcity of funding, training and facilities for dance and drama, and through it aims to create long-term opportunities for up-and-coming or previously disadvantaged artists to be given the space to continue to create works of art. Imvula encapsulates the essence of rain and movement and is accompanied by a brand new classical contemporary creation by Kindo. The piece was inspired by the poem Die Dans van die Reën by Eugene Marais. Christopher Kindo is a South African dancer and choreographer, and one of the co-founders of the Jazzart Dance Academy in Cape Town. He received his training at the Royal Academy of Dance, the University of Cape Town and at the Boston Ballet Academy in the USA, and has won various awards including the 1991 FNB Vita Award for Best Male Dancer.
