uZulu noQwabe

uZulu noQwabe is a multimedia dance theatre piece that explores (in metaphors) the legacy of Nguni cattle and the multiple roles they play in the lives, history and socialisation of Africans.

In recent times, the history of the Nguni people has been widely debated. The main issues of contention stem from identity, and how the history of abeNguni or amaNguni has been read and interpreted.

The debate about Qwabe’s role and recognition as the rightful heir to Malandela, the descendant of ‘Ntu’ and the ancestor of all Nguni continue to take centre stage in historical deliberations of amaNguni.
