Haydn’s The Creation
Considered as one of Joseph Haydn’s most profound classical works, The Creation will have Durban audiences in good cheer at the Playhouse Company’s Grand Opera Theatre this festive season on the 20th of December at 15h00 for only one spectacular performance open to the public.
This oratorio masterpiece celebrates the book of Genesis by relaying the story of the seven days of creation and the quest for harmony with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
Haydn’s composition is impeccably captured by a stellar cast which includes bass soloist Conroy Scot who plays Archangel Raphael. Tenor Wayne Mkhize voices Angel Uriel and award-winning Zandile Mzazi lends her soprano voice to the roles of Archangel Gabriel.
Guaranteed to bring bundles of joy over the festive season, the concert features the Kwa-Zulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Playhouse Chorale, this magnificent hour-long production is directed by Ralph Lawson and conducted by the acclaimed Jeremy Silver.
The Playhouse Company has put health and safety measures in place to safeguard the wellness of our patrons. It is important to arrive at the venue early in order to go through the screening process. We cannot wait to welcome you back to our theatre.
