The KZN International Jazz Festival, themed “The Journey of KZN Afro Jazz Maestros,” celebrates the extraordinary legacy and evolution of KwaZulu-Natal’s jazz tradition, honouring the pioneers and contemporary artists who have shaped the sound of African jazz.
From the enduring influence of legends such as Bheki Mseleku, Sipho Gumede, GTX Xaba, Busi Mhlongo and Allen Khwela, to contemporary voices including Dr Nduduzo Makhathini, Mbuso Khoza, Bongani Nkwanyana, Mthobisi Mthalane, Vincent Mtetwa and Dr Xolisa Dlamini, the festival traces a musical journey rooted in indigenous South African rhythms, Zulu heritage and global jazz influences.
More than a concert, it is a celebration of heritage, musical excellence and the generations of KZN artists who continue to carry Afro-jazz forward.
A journey through the sounds, stories and spirit of KZN Afro Jazz.
